A metronome for pranayama practice. It guides you through a sequence of breathing patterns — each pattern defines how many seconds to inhale, hold full, exhale, and hold empty, and how many times to repeat it. A sound cue plays at each beat, and a visual indicator shows which phase you are in.
The breathing pattern table
Each row is one breathing pattern with five columns:
Inhale
Hold Full
Exhale
Hold Empty
Reps
4
4
4
4
x4
Inhale / Hold Full / Exhale / Hold Empty — duration in seconds for each phase. Set any phase to 0 to skip it.
Reps — how many times the pattern repeats before moving to the next row.
Click any cell and type a new number to edit it. Changes take effect immediately, even during a session — except the four phase durations of the currently playing row, which are locked to prevent timing errors.
Click + on any row to insert a new row below it. Click × to delete that row.
Running a session
Start — plays through each row top to bottom, then stops.
Pause — freezes mid-pattern. Press Start again to continue.
Stop — ends the session and resets to the beginning.
Jump to a row — click any row during a session to jump directly to it.
Timing display
Remaining In Pattern — seconds left in the current row before moving to the next.
Time elapsed / Session remaining — overall session progress.
Pattern Text — edit as text
Click ✎ Edit as text to open a plain-text view of all patterns. The format is one row per line: inhale hold exhale void xReps (e.g. 4 4 4 4 x4).
Paste a full pattern sequence from another source and click Apply to load it.
Click Copy to copy the current patterns to your clipboard for sharing or saving.
Visual and audio feedback
The blue line on the left of a row shows which pattern is currently playing.
The coloured glow on a cell shows the active phase: Gold = Inhale, Teal = Hold Full, Blue = Exhale, Purple = Hold Empty.
A sound cue plays at every beat. A different sound plays when moving to the next row.
Sound test
Below the timing display there is a row of buttons (Inhale, Hold Full, Exhale, Hold Empty, Pattern Change). Click any to preview that sound before starting.
Preset memories
Presets save your favourite pattern sequences and let you reload them at any time.
Click Save current as preset, type a name, and press Save.
Click any preset button to reload that sequence.
Each preset has a small × to delete it permanently.
Presets are stored in the browser's local memory on this device. They persist between sessions but are specific to the browser and device you are using.

Focus mode
Click the ⊙ Focus button (or press F) to hide the controls panel and expand the phase display to full width with larger numbers — ideal for actual sitting practice. Press ✕ Exit Focus or F again to return.
Session progress
The progress line above the phase boxes shows "Pattern N of M · Rep N of N" and updates every beat. Rows that have finished playing fade out so you can see at a glance where you are in the session. Clicking a faded row jumps back to it.
Breath visual
Above the phase boxes you can follow the breath in three ways (tap the picture, or use the buttons):
Graph — the cycle drawn as a shape, as in the Module 2 teaching: inhale rises on the left, the full retention runs across the top, the exhale falls on the right, the empty retention runs along the bottom. Retentions are horizontal (stillness), breathing is vertical (movement). Equal phases give a square, a longer retention a trapezoid, no empty retention a triangle. A point travels the shape, so you always see where you are.
Aura — a circle that grows on the inhale, rests while full, shrinks on the exhale and rests while empty.
Classic — hides the picture: only the phase boxes and the table.
Size: the shape keeps one scale for the whole session. The session's largest breath fills the frame, and smaller patterns are drawn smaller, so you can see the practice grow (8·36·12·8 is larger than 4·16·8·4).
Full screen:Focus (or the ⛶ button, or the key F) puts the picture on the whole screen, with Start/Pause, Stop and Exit at the top. Esc or F leaves it.
Sound during practice (under Test Sounds): Classic beats, Soft beats (gentler), or Continuous tones: one held, soft organ tone for each phase. No sliding pitches: the inhale swells and brightens, the full retention rests on a clear chord, the exhale softens and settles, the empty retention rests on a low tone. Each change shares a note with the next phase, so it flows. Press “Hear the tones” to listen.
Tips
You can edit the Reps value of the active row mid-session. If you lower it below reps already completed, the app finishes the current cycle and moves on.
Setting a phase to 0 removes it from the cycle — useful for simple inhale/exhale patterns without holds.
The app works fully offline. No internet connection is needed after the file has been opened once.
